Final Fantasy IX Transportation
|
The Blue Narciss is obtained on Disk 3, after you attempt to revert
Cid back into a human. It can travel anywhere in the world, but it can only land on the sea shores. This is your first
real mode of transportation. |
|
The Hilda Garde 1 is only used for the mission from the Desert Palace,
to Oeilvert. Unfortunately, you cannot control this airship. |
|
After you have found Lady Hilda on Disk 3, you are given the Hilda
Garde 3. This is the only Hilda Garde you can control. There is a large cockpit, where you can change your party members out,
and rest. But this is not the best there is... |
|
The invincible is simply the best there is out there! It has everything
you want in a airship, even a Stellazio coin! It is a bit of a let down that you get it so late in the gmae, but hey you go
to the finish in style! |
Other Modes of Transportation
|
Chocobo's are a great way to get around. Not only can you avoid enemy
encounters, but you also can snag a few Chocographs on your journey. Once you get the flying Chocobo, there is no place in
the world you cannot go...well you can't get to the end area without an airship. |
|
The Cargo Ship is the airship you take off with, to get to Lindblum.
It may nto seem like anything more than a trash heap, but it gets moving when it needs to. It outruns the Black Waltz 3
pretty darn well anyways. |
|
Gargants are giant, insect-like creatures, that dwell underground.
These docile creatures were once the main mode of transportation between Treno, Lindblum, and Alexandria. Once airships came
into being, the gargants were all but forgotten. There is still a gargant ride found from Treno to Alexandria, but it would
seem the connection with Lindblum has been lost.
There are also wild gargants out in other places as well. These creatures love Gargant Grass, and stop dead to get their fill.
Simply hop on their backs while they are eating, and away you go. It should also be noted that gargants will not cross
water. They hate it. |
|
The Air Cab shuttles passengers to the three major areas of Lindblum:
the Theater, Industrial, and Business Districts. It is the only inner-transportation in the city. After the destruction of
Lindblum, you will only be able to go to the Theater and Business Districts. |
|
The ferry transports people from the city of Alexandria to the castle. This little ship, run by the royal guards is usable throughout most of the game. There are some rare occasions though, where you cannot enter/leave the castle. |
