Final Fantasy XIII Components

Components are items that are essential to upgrading weapons and accessories. These components can either be purchased in shops, dropped from enemies, or found inside treasure spheres. There are three different types of components, that are used to upgrade. They are:

Organic Components: These are used to increase the multiplier value of the Experience being placed into the weapon/accessory. By increasing the multiplier value (maximum increase of x3) you will double or triple the experience you gain off the component.

Electronic Component: These have higher Experience value than Organic Components, but at a cost of dropping the multiplier value. It is vital to increase the multiplier value with Organic Components, before using the Electronic ones, to get the maximum results.

Catalyst Components: These are required to upgrade the current weapon/accessory to the next level. Some are extremely rare to obtain, and some cannot be purchased in shops. It is highly advised to save these when you get them, unless you are using them at that point in time.

Premium Components: These are not necessarily used for upgrading per say, though they can be. They are more for the resale value. These components will land you a major chunk of Gil needed to get the Components for upgrading. Would be far more worth it to sell these as they come along, rather than try to use them in upgrading.
