Deathgaze Rank: VII Petitioner: A Traveler, Aerodome Reward: 3400 Gil, Elixir x2 |
Your traveler claims to have seen this legendary monster, while on the dock of an airship. To get Deathgaze to appear, you must talk to the boy, and follow his clues to the next destination. Once there speak to him again, and go to the next destination. Repeat this process, until deathgaze finally appears.
Offer to take on the foe when he attacks the ship, then meet him on deck. He will begin the battle by using a Physical Immunity shield up. He will then begin hitting the party with attacks like Poison, Confuse and Sap. Have Eunaga ready to counter any one of them. Try to Silence the foul monster, to negate some of his attacks. Another method of felling the beast is to hit it with Reverse, then Renew, folloed by either Bio or Scourge. You have to trigger renew and the final spell just right, since Deathgaze will try to cast restore after Renew hits. If this works, Reverse and Renew will drop his HP to 1, and the final spell will wipe him out. It is tricky to do, but has been proven to work. Otherwise hit it with any powerful non-elemental spells in your arsenal. Keep in mind that Deathgaze absorbs wind attacks, so stear clear of Aero spells. he is a bit on the difficult side, but a high level party should have no trouble at all taking care of him. |

Diablos Rank: VII Petitioner: Miclio, Miner's End/Bhujerba Reward: 2600 Gil, Demon Shield, Zeus Mace |
In order to go after this mark, you need to first complete the "Antlion Infestation" Elite mark, and find the "Site 11 Key". The key is sitting next to the fallen Bhujerban in Phon Coast. Wioth this complete, you can head into the mines.
Diablos loves fire magicks, as well as absorbs them. Make sure to set up accordingly for it. A Flame shield on your main attacker will cut the fire attacks down by 50%. Though with higher levels, you really do not ahve to worry about it. Cast Slow to give you the upper hand in the fight, and watch for its Pyromainia attack. his can hit everyone for a good chunk of HP. Keep everyone spread out to avoid taking too much damage. |

Fafnir Rank: VII Petitioner: Leeha/Relj, Temple Aproach/Mt. Bur-Omisace Reward: 7000 Gil, Assassin's Arrows, Teleport Stone (Ring of Light) |
This hulking beast will not appear in the area, unless there is a blizzard. it can be a bit difficult to get blizzards going, so just enter and leave the area, until the snow begins falling really hard.
Fafnir is perhaps the most difficult of the normal marks. He has a plethora of status attacks, and plenty of HP to keep you running for some time. Make sure you have a strong supply of Echo Herbs, and Chronos Tears (99 is good), for this fight. A Decoyed character will get hit with Shock for 6-7000 HP, if their health is taken to about 1/2. This maens the healers will be working in overtime. You might want to set the Healing Gambits to HP< 70 or 80%, rather than 60% for this fight. This should keep the main fighter up and fighting.
A combination of the Genji Glove and a Katana/Ninja Sword could do extra damage. If you have the Zodiac Spear, bring it in for your main fighter. It can do great damage as well, and the Genji Glove will allow for a few more multiple hits. Keep Bubble on your main fighter, and have your healers set with Pheasant Natsuke, to make Phoenix Downs more effective. Keep everyone spaced, and the other two ranged, with one fighting. This will prevent things like Silencega from effecting everyone, and minimalizing his Thunder attacks damage. |

Pylraster Rank: VII Petitioner: Rikken, Saccio Lane/Balfoheim Reward: 8000 Gil, Grand mace, Scathe Mote x2 |
Pyralaster is a monster whom you will want a shield on your main attacker. A Demon Shield will do, but the Zodiac Escutcheon is better. The reason for shields is most of Pyralaster's attacks can easily be blocked by a good shield. Hit the main fighter up with Gauntlets to take the defense another step further. If not this guys attacks can wipe a character out in one or two turns. Even at levels above 50. Hit the beast with Shear, and Fire Maigick for added damage, while the main attacker hits it physically. Though a Flametongue seems the choice weapon, given Pylrasters weakness, I would go with a Deathbringer or Golden Axe. They will do more damage than Flametongue, even with the added elemental damage.
Oncwe he gets lower in HP, he will cast Growing Threat to double his level, strength, and defense. He will begin damaging for about 5000/shot, and he becomes insanely fast. Just keep everyone alive, and hitting away at him. |

Carrot Rank: VII Petitioner: Zammadria, Nalbina Aerodome Reward: 5200 Gil, Stink Bombs, Putrid Liquid |
Carrot is a major Malboro. He can and will use plenty of nasty status effects, the biggest being Stop. To save time, MP, and Items, have everyone equip a Power Armlet, or Ribbon, and bring in a lot of Chronos Tears, in case everyone cannot defend against it. Other attacks can be countered with Esunaga, so have your healers set with gambits to throw it out when needed.
When the oversized plants gets over half way, it will cast Growing Threat on itself, doubling its level, strength, and defense. This might be a great time to unleash a Quickening, but you might want to reserve your MP for healing and Esunaga. |

Behemoth King Rank: VII Petitioner: Koqmihn, Old Dalan's House Reward: 250 Gil, Bacchus's Wine (500,000 Gil, Rod of Faith) |
This mark is tough to get to appear. You must venture to the edge of Reason in the Feywood from the Ridorana catoract. Once there, you must elliminate all of the enemies in the area. Next enter the Icefield of Clearsight and defeat all of the enemies there as well. You must be fast too, as the enemies will respawn in time. Once you have cleared both areas of enemies, return to the southern central part of edge of Reason. Your mark should now be there.
Behemoth King will shift from a pailing to a Magick shield throughout the entire fight. Spread everyone out to avoid area attacks, and switch your attacks depending on his immunities. In the magick, everything will do only half damage in the elemental front, so stick with spells such as Scourge or Scathe. When he shifts to magick immunity, have your main fighter unleash a heavy assault on him. A combination of Masamune/Zodiac Spear, and Genji Glove will do wonders against him. Keep the others in the back for healing and support, and you will do fine. |

Ixion Rank: VII Petitioner: Whitecap Wench, Whitecap/Balfoheim Reward: 3000 Gil, Sapping Bolts, Ragnarok |
Ixion can be found on any one of the levels in the Pharos Subterra. Finding it is actually easy as well. As you might know from coming down here already, the areas are usually overwhelmed with enemies. If Ixion is on a level, the enemies will be gone. The one acception to the rule is the Secret Boss Phoenix. So if the area is empty, you found your mark.
Ixion can fight everywhere within the area you find him in. but it is best to keep fighting him on the inner rings. while on these rings, his HP is cut from 306,559 to 166,559. It makes the battle a lot easier on the party. Ixion also uses Sleepga and Silencega a lot, so protect against sleep, and have gambits set up with Echo Herbs. His other attacks are Thunder based, so you can counter this with Rubber Suits. Just dipel the bosses Status enhancements, and beat it into submission.
Considering the location of the mark, as well as the other two marks in the Ridorana/Pharos area, you would think this would be a tougher mark. It is actually a pretty easy mark. |
